Lean als een gestructureerde methode om de productiviteit te verhogen heeft de laatste 10 jaar zijn onbetwiste waarde bewezen. In alle sectoren werden aanzienlijke verbeteringen gerealiseerd dankzij de combinatie van een op mensen gebaseerde aanpak en enkele simpele, effectieve methodes. Daarentegen wordt het steeds duidelijker dat het introduceren van Lean kennis en inspanningen vereist die buiten de mogelijkheden van kleine ondernemingen liggen. In het artikel ‘People driven productivity’ van Prof. dr. ir. Hendrik Van Landeghem (Vakgroep Industrial Management, UGent) worden de eerste resultaten toegelicht van het ERIP-project. In dit project werd onderzoek verricht naar een effectieve methode om Lean te implementeren in kmo’s. Het is onder meer uit dit project dat Veltion als spin-off is voortgevloeid.Lean as a structured method to improve productivity has earned its undisputed place during the last 10 years. The combination of a people-oriented philosophy, combined with simple but effective methods, has led to considerable improvements in almost all industry sectors. However it becomes increasingly clear that introducing Lean requires knowledge and efforts that are outside the possibilities of small businesses. The article ‘People driven productivity’ by Prof. dr. ir. Hendrik Van Landeghem (Department of Industrial Management, Ghent University) reports on the preliminary results of the ERIP project. This project was a concerted research effort towards an effective method to introduce Lean in small production enterprises (SMEs). It is including from this project that Veltion resulted as a spin-off.
